About Red Light Therapy:
NASA scientists developed red light therapy as a way to improve wound healing and tissue regeneration for astronauts in space, where the absence of gravity and other environmental factors could slow down the healing process. They discovered that specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light could stimulate cellular repair and promote faster recovery of damaged tissues. Since then, red light therapy has been widely used for various health benefits, such as reducing inflammation, improving skin health, and enhancing muscle recovery.
Pricing:
At Forge, our mission is to make health optimisation and longevity accessible to all. That’s why we’re offering Norway’s most affordable red light hat—without compromising on quality, effect, or design. Red light therapy is safe, effective, and inexpensive to produce. While we need to be profitable to pursue our larger vision, we’re committed to keeping our prices fair and transparent.
We are on the cutting edge:
Forge is one of few companies offering red light therapy with the extra 1072nm Near Infra Red Light wave length, which penetrates deeper into the skin and is being researched for its preventative benefits against age related decline, particularly dementia and Alzheimers disease. Are you interested in the science behind red light therapy? Check out this article for a more in-depth read.
Red Light & Near Infra Red Wavelengths and their effects:
650 nm (Red Light): This wavelength is commonly used in RLT devices for skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatments. It penetrates the skin to stimulate collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve overall skin texture..
830 nm (Near-Infrared Light): Near-infrared light at this wavelength penetrates deeper into tissues, reaching the dermal layers and even muscles. It's effective in promoting wound healing, alleviating pain, and potentially improving hair growth. Studies have shown that combining 830 nm with other wavelengths can enhance therapeutic outcomes.
1,072 nm (Infrared Light):A pilot study involving daily six-minute exposures to 1,072 nm infrared light over 28 days showed significant enhancements in cognitive functions and behavioural symptoms in individuals with early to mid-stage dementia. Participants exhibited improved executive functions, increased cerebral oxygenation, and normalised EEG activity.
Technical product information:
- LED Quantity: 110pcs x Triple Chips = 330pcs chips
- Wavelengths: red 633nm, near infrared 830nm, 1072nm
- Timer: 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 minutes adjustable
- Pulse: 10Hz, 40Hz
5 Modes:
- All LEDs at 80% intensity
- All LEDs at 100% intensity
- All LEDs at 10Hz pulsing
- All LEDs at 40Hz pulsing
- All LEDs at breathing (The breathing mode uses a slow, steady pattern that mimics natural breathing, helping users to relax, focus, and enhance blood circulation.)
Why pulsing is used in red light therapy?
Cellular signaling:
Different pulse frequencies can stimulate cells in unique ways. Some research suggests that pulsed light may better activate mitochondrial pathways (the energy factories of your cells) by giving them “rest” periods between light bursts, improving ATP production.
-
Deeper tissue penetration
-
Pulsed near-infrared light has been shown in some studies to travel deeper into tissue compared to continuous light, which can be useful for reaching hair follicles, scalp tissue, or even brain tissue.
-
Neurological effects
-
10 Hz (10 pulses per second): Close to the brain’s alpha-wave frequency, associated with relaxation and calm focus. Often explored for stress reduction and meditation-like effects.
-
40 Hz: Matches the brain’s gamma frequency, which is linked to memory, learning, and neuroplasticity. There’s exciting research on 40 Hz pulsing for cognitive enhancement and even Alzheimer’s support.
-
Reduced heat load
What the Forge hat’s pulse modes do
-
10 Hz pulsing (3): Targets relaxation, gentle cellular stimulation, and improved circulation.
-
40 Hz pulsing (4): More stimulating, designed for brain/nerve health and cognitive benefits.
-
Breathing mode (5): A slow rise-and-fall intensity cycle, more for relaxation, focus, and circulation rather than direct mitochondrial effects.
In short:
-
Steady light (80–100%) → general cellular energy, hair follicle health, blood flow.
-
Pulsing (10 Hz / 40 Hz) → adds a neurological/cognitive layer, potentially deeper penetration and enhanced signaling.
-
Breathing mode → calming, circulation, relaxation.
